Day 3 Pastor Notes: We Must Have Compassion for the Disabled and Poor

In John 4-5, Jesus worked signs and wonders but some still did not believe. In the midst of the miracles, they focused on the laws. I guess to them, if you got sick on the Sabbath, you better hope you make it to the next day because there would be no work on the Sabbath. But Jesus had compassion and his compassion is the same yesterday, today, and evermore. In Matthew 9:35-37, the compassion of Jesus allowed Him to see a crowd of helpless people. They were confused. This is because there were no workers to preach the good news. We must take the time to recognize those who are confused and introduce them to Christ. In Matthew 14:13-14, we can follow the example of Jesus by spending time alone in the presence of God. He will refill us for the work ahead. We will begin to demonstrate such characteristics as compassion and many more. When we think about compassion as it relates to forgiveness, compassion is a segue to forgiveness. Compassion allows us to feel empathy and pity which fosters forgiveness, being able to set aside feelings of anger and disappointment. In order to forgive we must show compassion to others.
